The Putonghua Curriculum aims at:

• developing an interest in learning Putonghua and cultivating positive attitudes and habits
• building up abilities in listening, speaking and recitation
• cultivating students’ self-learning abilities
• enhancing the understanding of Chinese culture

Overview

We provide:

• Catering for learning diversities: design different curriculums to cater for learning diversity of Chinese (CS) and Non-Chinese Speaking Students (NCS)
  CS Curriculum covers a wider range of topics, including culture cultivation and more advance language points.
  NCS Curriculum mainly focuses on pinyin rules and basic language points.
• Competitions: arrange external competitions to broaden students’ horizons
• Activities: organize games and activities to encourage students to speak Putonghua

• We design differentiated curricula to address the learning diversity of Chinese-speaking (CS) and Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) students.

  • Mainly focuses on pinyin rules and basic language points to build a solid language foundation.
• Competitions and Activities

  • Putonghua Drama
    Through drama training and performances, students apply Putonghua in vivid contexts, enhancing their language expression, physical presentation and team collaboration skills.

  We adopt a diversified assessment model to comprehensively evaluate students’ learning progress:

• Assessment Type	Description
  Written Exam	Assesses students’ mastery of language knowledge.
  Oral Exam	Assesses students’ listening and speaking skills.
  Formative Assessment	Ongoing tracking of learning progress through class observation, activity performance, etc.

• e-Learning Platform
  The Educational Publishing House Putonghua Learning Website offers a variety of self-learning materials including e-textbooks, interactive games, pinyin exercises and recitation demonstrations. Students are encouraged to make full use of the platform to reinforce their learning.

  Supported by the Education Bureau of Hong Kong and developed by The Education University of Hong Kong, “Putonghua-funlearning” is an educational app that combines interactive games with AI speech evaluation. It empowers students to learn outside the classroom through engaging gameplay.
